Safeguarding at St John’s

At St John’s Catholic Primary School, the safety, well-being, and protection of all our pupils is of the utmost importance. We are committed to providing a secure, nurturing environment where every child can flourish academically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually.

Our safeguarding practices are underpinned by the latest government guidance, Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE). All staff, volunteers, and visitors at our school follow the principles outlined in KCSIE, and receive regular training to ensure they are equipped to identify and respond to safeguarding concerns.

We maintain a rigorous safeguarding policy, which you can access here: St John’s Catholic Primary School Safeguarding Policy. and we ensure that all staff, volunteers, and visitors understand their roles in keeping children safe. Our designated safeguarding leads are always available to provide support, guidance, and intervention when needed.

We are dedicated to promoting the welfare of children by:

  • Ensuring all staff and volunteers undergo regular safeguarding training.
  • Maintaining robust recruitment procedures to prevent unsuitable individuals from working with children.
  • Promoting a culture of vigilance, where safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.
  • Providing a caring and inclusive environment where all pupils feel valued and supported.
  • Working in close partnership with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for every child.

If you have any concerns about a child’s safety or well-being, please do not hesitate to contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead, Ms Emily Phipps, or our additional Safeguarding Officers: Ms Janice Babb, Mrs Steffi Sadiq and Mrs Jennifer Kwarteng.

Together, we can ensure that St John’s Catholic Primary School remains a safe and welcoming place for all.
