About our school
We are located in a single-storey building set within pleasant grounds, including a secure astro-turf ball cage and a trim trail that children enjoy using during playtimes. We also have a dedicated planting area where children enthusiastically grow vegetables, fruit, and flowers. In addition, we are fortunate to be situated adjacent to Stave Hill Eco-Park, which we use as a valuable outdoor learning resource to enhance class-based activities.
The school has seven classes, one for each year group, with a maximum of 30 pupils per class. We also have a nursery offering both part-time and full-time places. The Nursery and Reception classes benefit from their own separate, well-equipped outdoor play areas.
The aim of St John’s is to provide a caring Christian environment in which the love of God is present and nurtured. We seek to support all members of our community in growing spiritually, while fostering an industrious and stimulating environment where every child’s potential can be fully developed.
St John’s is proud to be an outstanding school. Our most recent Ofsted inspection in 2024 judged all areas as outstanding, recognising the exceptionally high standards across the school. Inspectors highlighted pupils’ exemplary behaviour, the strength of our curriculum, and the wide range of enrichment opportunities, including educational visits, visitors, and specialist activities that enhance learning.
We are also delighted to have strong links with the Royal Academy of Music through the First Strings programme, giving children the opportunity to learn a string instrument from an early age and develop a lifelong appreciation of music.
Our extensive sporting provision further enriches pupils’ experiences and includes opportunities such as sailing, street dance, and golf, alongside a broad range of physical activities that promote teamwork, confidence, and wellbeing.
St John’s is part of a hard federation with St James the Great Primary School in Peckham.
