We Day is young people coming together to make the world a better place. This year it took place in Wembley Stadium and St. John’s School were invited; the children who attended are those who regularly volunteer in school (including School Council, Green Team, Lunchtime and classroom helpers etc).
A group of children enjoyed working with the Art Group from Time and Talents. The children were invited to work with the local senior citizens who attend the club. ‘I Love Rotherhithe’ was the theme for the workshop and the children and adults worked together, using the children’s ideas, to make a bag using the skill of printing. We welcome our international visitors Below are some pictures taken of the day that our school proudly hosted a visit from 25 teachers from Hubei. Hubei is a province of China, located in the easternmost part of Central China. We put on a special International Assembly and the Chinese Teachers enjoyed meeting the School Council and the Green Team.
Safe on the roads The children have enjoyed a number of road safety events from Theatre In Education to Safe Scooter workshops, plus sessions on crossing the road safely.
St John’s in fine voice The Infant Nativity and Christmas Carol Concert were both very special events in our school year. Thank you to the many parents and families who attended. Gallery below are a few pictures of our children performing at the concert.
After School Club Our singing and performance after school club has been a great success with many children attending and thoroughly enjoying this club. Below are some pictures of our pupils performing for the Mayor at the Southwark offices in Tooley Street. They also joined other schools to perform in “Christmas Splash” at The Royal Festival Hall.
Wastebusters Recycling Project As part of our green campaign here at St John’s Primary School, Rotherhithe, pictured below are the many bags that we have collected for the wastebusters Recycling project. A huge thank you for your support. Star Award Also, we are very proud to announce that we received a star award for being a School of excellence in Walking and Scootering 2014.

Newsletters have been sent out with details of our International celebrations during the month of October. Please remember that Tuesday 7th October is our Flag Parade – the whole school project is to make a flag representing the country or countries you are from. We are looking forward to seeing the creativity – this is bound to be an exciting and colourful event. On
