Year 5 had a sequence of sailing lessons at the Dockland Watersports Centre. All the children worked towards the Royal Yachting Association Level 1 Certificate for Dinghy Sailing. The children in KS2 have been really fortunate to take part in Military Activity Day which focused on them keeping fit and co-operating with each other. They learned the importance of being physically active by completing military style obstacle courses. The children from Reception to Year 3 had a special Maypole dancing session in the school playground. To celebrate May as the month in which we remember Mary as the mother of Jesus, we gathered as a school community to give thanks and praise for her saying ‘yes’ to God. Mary is our mother too and so we brought flowers to lay at her feet. We prayed a decade of the rosary in thanksgiving for her and the love she has for each one

The children enjoyed returning to school in January to well-being week . They took part in various sporting and fitness activities, they enjoyed learning to cook various savoury foods such as soda bread, hummus, cereal bars and learned about healthy eating.

The Year 4 pupils from St John’s and St James the Great had an amazing couple of days on a residential (Stubbers Centre) in November 2019. They tried many different activities and had a great time sleeping in dormitories together!
